Job Description:

Military-Connected Student Outreach and Engagement
• Coordinate outreach and engagement strategy that increases awareness of CVSC resources, programs, space, student organizations and opportunities for prospective, incoming, current, online, and graduating military-connected students.
• Supervise peer mentoring, student advisory, ambassador, volunteer, and/or student employment initiatives, including recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, coaching, and recognition for student assistants supporting the CVSC area.
• Conduct targeted outreach at key transition points, including admission, orientation, return from deployment or military leave, academic milestones, graduation, and post-graduate transition.
• Serve as a point of contact for military-connected students and families seeking information about University resources, transition, engagement, academic success, wellbeing, career development, and community support.
• Develop accessible and timely communications across digital platforms, presentations, tabling, campus events, and partner channels to promote CVSC resources and opportunities.
• Plan, implement and assess programs, workshops, recognition activities, peer connections, and signature events that foster community, resilience, leadership, and engagement, synthesizing student feedback to identify needs, reduce barriers, and recommend program or service improvements.
• Expand outreach through relationships with military installations, veteran-serving organizations, alumni, employers, families, and community partners.
• Create opportunities for military-connected students and others interested in supporting this community to participate, lead, volunteer, and mentor through CVSC initiatives.
• Refer education-benefit questions to the designated School Certifying Official or responsible office unless separately designated and trained to perform certification duties.

Program Coordination, Experiential Learning, Career Design, and Campus Partnerships
• Design and coordinate the development, logistics, delivery, and evaluation of CVSC programs, workshops, mentoring initiatives, leadership experiences, and collaborative events.
• Incorporate experiential learning through defined learning outcomes, meaningful responsibilities, reflection, feedback, and opportunities for students to demonstrate and articulate their learning.
• Develop and facilitate educational programs and resources that strengthen campus understanding of military-connected student experiences, needs, resources, and effective referral practices.
• Collaborate with campus and community partners to connect students with career exploration, professional networks, internships, employment, graduate education, and other post-graduate pathways.
• Maintain collaborative relationships with campus and community partners supporting admissions, financial aid, veteran education benefits, academic success, accessibility, wellbeing, career development, housing, legal services, alumni engagement, and community resources.
• Represent the Student Engagement and CVSC at assigned at partner meetings, resource fairs, committees, various events, and professional development opportunities.
• Maintain accurate and accessible resource guides, referral protocols, websites, contact lists, and partner communications.
• Coordinate assigned collaborations with Veterans Affairs, state and federal contacts, veteran-serving organizations, and community partners under the direction of leadership.
• Develop resources and activities that help students translate military service and campus involvement into transferable leadership and career-readiness competencies.
• Manage program calendars, reservations, vendors, purchasing documentation, marketing, staffing, accessibility, risk-management requirements, and post-program evaluations.
• Research best practices and recommend approaches that strengthen military-connected student engagement within the UF context.
• Support evening, weekend, and campus-wide events, as assigned.

Student Support, Resource Navigation, and Student Organization Advising
• Advise assigned registered student organizations, student leaders, and organization advisors on operations, leadership transitions, membership engagement, event planning, budgeting, risk management, and University policies.
• Assist in the management of the student organization program and database (GatorConnect) and work with software provider to make continued improvements to the database and technology.
• Maintain accurate records of student contacts, outreach, referrals, and follow-up in accordance with privacy requirements and approved University practices.
• Provide logistical and administrative support for departmental priorities, student organization needs, and major campus-wide events as assigned.
• Interpret and communicate University policies and procedures related to students, student organizations, events, campus safety, risk, and liability.

Assessment, Administration, and Operations
• Collect, organize, and report participation, outreach, referral, student feedback, learning, engagement, and career-related data using approved tools and definitions.
• Assist with reporting, dashboards, annual reports, needs assessments, program reviews, presentations, budget tracking, purchasing documentation, and other operational records.
• Support daily Student Engagement, Community and Belonging, and CVSC operations, including desk coverage, event support, space readiness, service standards, student employee schedules, inventory, technology, records, communications, accessibility, safety, and continuity procedures.
• Use assessment findings and student feedback to recommend and implement improvements to programs, outreach, communications, and resource coordination.
• Support grants, partnerships, sponsorships, and gift-funded initiatives as assigned, including documentation and reporting consistent with University requirements.

Departmental, Divisional, and University Contribution
• Contributes to the Division and University through active participation on committees and division-wide initiatives (example opportunities): Emergency dean on call, event support team, conduct committee, screening committees, student welcome events, etc); and other duties as assigned

• Position receives regular direction, coaching, and feedback from the Associate Director of the Collegiate Veterans Success Center. Work is guided by established goals, applicable policies and procedures, scheduled meetings, and performance review. The coordinator is expected to exercise initiative and sound judgment in coordinating assigned programs, outreach, communications, referrals, and daily responsibilities, and to consult the supervisor on significant policy, student welfare, fiscal, reputational, or operational matters.

• The position may provide day-to-day direction, training, scheduling, and coaching to assigned student assistants, interns, ambassadors, peer mentors, and volunteers. The position does not directly supervise professional staff.

• Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 40 hours per week, including frequent evening and weekend hours as assigned.

Expected Salary:

$48,000 to $50,000 Annual Salary

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience consistent with University requirements.

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in higher education/student affairs, counseling, social work, public administration, communications, education, leadership, or a related field with experience working in a higher education setting, particularly in Student Affairs.
• Knowledge of military culture, transition from military service to higher education and career, and campus and community resources for veterans and military-connected students. Veteran or military-connected lived experience is valued but not required. 
• Experience advising student organizations, mentoring student leaders, coordinating peer programs, or supervising student employees or volunteers. 
• Experience with events and event management, and compliance-based systems or protocols
• Experience with outreach strategy, digital communications, program marketing, presentations, event planning, and partnership development.
