Job Title: Territory Manager Overview Responsible for an assigned service territory with direct supervision of route representatives, ensuring territory safety and results, including customer retention, business growth, loss and repair, budget control, employee and AR collection, renewals, sales, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities / Essential Functions Promote and sustain a safety culture. Evaluate, coach, and develop Route Sales Representatives (RSRs). Report directly to a Service Manager or Sr. Territory Manager; if neither present, report to the General Manager. Create a pervasive sales culture that fosters team selling via TIG and shared lead programs. Assist in new account installations as directed. Manage day‑to‑day customer service programs. Visit customers quarterly for growth and service opportunities. Ensure RSRs respond to and resolve service requests timely. Set clear expectations for customer service and lead by example. Spend 60% of time traveling with route professionals, observing, and visiting customer locations. Proactively follow up on accounts in jeopardy and resolve concerns expeditiously. Negotiate and secure renewal agreements that protect pricing and profitability. Recruit, select, and hire Route Sales employees. Hold in‑person meetings with each RSR weekly to review performance and identify improvement opportunities. Deliver and participate in training to meet customer retention and service goals. Maintain daily remote contact with RSRs to address pending items. Attend meetings and complete necessary administrative work to improve satisfaction. Coordinate collections for accounts receivable. Protect and manage merchandise control processes. Investigate and report all accidents or incidents within 24 hours of notification. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to interface with various organizational functions to get the job done. Strong interpersonal, analytical, communication, and customer service skills. Considerable negotiation skills. Computer proficiency, including MS Office. Exposure to sales function preferred. Skills in management, human relations, and communication. Working Environment / Safety Requirements Majority of time driving own or company vehicle to call on customers and supervise employees; exposure to weather conditions. Customer visitations may require walking, climbing stairs, pushing/pulling carts, exposure to weather. Must lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds frequently, up to 100 pounds occasionally, and load/unload product without assistance. Time will also be spent in a company office, loading dock, production, warehouse, and vehicle maintenance areas. Experience & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or equivalent experience. Two years of service and route‑based industry experience, with a proven track record for growing customer accounts. Previous profit and loss accountability and/or contract‑managed service experience preferred. Significant customer interface and service experience. Production planning, maintenance, or warehouse operations experience preferred. License Requirements / Certifications DOT‑certified. Driver’s license. Automobile insurance on personal vehicle. Successful completion of criminal background, motor vehicle record, and drug screen checks. Open to relocation for advancement opportunities.
