Critical Environments Manager

Critical Facilities Manager (CFM) JLL is seeking an experienced and technically proficient Critical Facilities Manager (CFM) to lead the operational oversight of mission‑critical Research & Development (R&D) laboratory portfolio. This pivotal role focuses on ensuring reliability, uptime, and safety of all critical Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), and life safety systems that support laboratory activities. Key Responsibilities Vendor & Work Oversight – Supervise and direct preventative and corrective maintenance performed by equipment vendors on critical lab support systems; develop, review, and approve Method of Procedures (MOPs); manage site change‑management control processes; oversee contractor activities. Technical & Operational Management – Act as subject‑matter expert on lab MEP infrastructure; maintain system capacity, load, and redundancy; ensure 24/7 reliability of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems; develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans; lead root‑cause analysis of incidents. Compliance, Documentation & Reporting – Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws; maintain accurate maintenance records and engineering logs; prepare and present performance reports and KPIs to leadership. Financial & Strategic Planning – Assist in operational and capital budget development; participate in capacity planning; identify and implement improvements for operational efficiency and cost reduction. Qualifications Experience – 7‑10 years in critical facilities operations, preferably in laboratory, cleanroom, pharmaceutical, or semiconductor manufacturing environments. Education – Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related technical field; equivalent experience accepted. Technical Knowledge – In‑depth system‑level knowledge of MEP systems (UPS, generators, power distribution, HVAC, fire/life safety). Vendor Management – Proven experience managing vendor relationships, contracts, and on‑site performance. Process Management – Strong understanding of change‑management controls, MOPs, SOPs, and risk mitigation. Skills – Excellent leadership, problem‑solving, and communication skills with a proven customer‑service record. Preferred – Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) or Building Automation Systems (BAS); familiarity with CMMS; knowledge of lab‑specific utility systems (RODI, CDA, Process Exhaust, Gas/Chemical monitoring); professional certifications such as CFM, CDCP. Budget Experience – Experience managing operational and capital budgets. Compensation Estimated compensation: $167,200.00 – $219,980.00 USD per year.
