Medical Assistant Certified

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) provides essential clinical support in an urgent care outpatient setting, performing patient vital signs, specimen collection, assisting with procedures, and administrative duties. The role requires strong clinical skills, reliable transportation, and the ability to work a defined schedule including weekends. The MA-C collaborates closely with healthcare providers to ensure efficient patient care and clinic operations. Responsibilities:

• Obtain and record vital signs including height, weight, pulse oximetry, and vision testing.
• Perform 12 lead EKG/ECG tests.
• Record patient history, medications, and allergies accurately.
• Prepare and assist with clinical procedures such as nebulizer treatments and ear lavage.
• Administer immunizations and intramuscular injections.
• Collect, label, and process specimens including throat swabs, urine samples (UA/clean catch), and blood glucose tests.
• Conduct laboratory tests such as pregnancy, strep, and urine dipstick/urinalysis.
• Room patients and assist with medication administration as needed.
• Maintain clinic supplies by stocking and organizing inventory.
• Use EPIC electronic health record system for charting and documentation.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) credential is mandatory; MA-R, MA-P, and MA-HT not accepted.
• Minimum 6 months experience as an MA-C in an adult/pediatric outpatient clinic setting.
• Proficient in performing vital signs, EKG/ECG, specimen collection, and injections.
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.
• Reliable personal transportation (public transportation not acceptable).

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Prior urgent care or outpatient clinic experience is advantageous.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Special Considerations:

• Weekend work is required every Saturday; Sundays off.
• No on-call duties.
• Work location is fixed; no floating between units.
• Candidate must be willing and able to join the clinic permanently after the contract period if offered.

Scheduling:

• Schedule consists of two 12-hour shifts and two 8-hour shifts per week: Tuesday (7:45 AM 8:15 PM), Wednesday (9:30 AM 6:00 PM), Friday (7:45 AM 8:15 PM), and Saturday (7:45 AM 4:15 PM).
• Off on Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays.
