Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Junior Bookkeeper with an entrepreneurial spirit to join our property management team. This position will assist with the day-to-day accounting functions for a portfolio of residential and/or commercial properties. This is a M-F, 9-5, in-person position at our Pittsburgh office.

The ideal candidate has a basic understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles, is comfortable working with technology, and is highly organized. Experience with QuickBooks Online and accounts payable (AP) automation software is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their accounting career who wants to gain hands-on experience in property management and real estate accounting .

Key Responsibilities

• Enter and categorize bills, invoices, expenses, and other transactions
• Assist with the accounts payable process, including invoice review, coding, approvals, and payments
• Maintain accurate vendor records and W-9 information
• Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
• Review transactions for proper property, entity, and general ledger coding
• Assist with recording rents, deposits, management fees, and other property-related transactions
• Maintain organized electronic accounting records and supporting documentation
• Assist with month-end closing procedures
• Prepare basic financial and accounting reports
• Research and resolve discrepancies in vendor accounts and general ledger activity
• Assist with intercompany transactions between properties and related entities
• Communicate with property managers, maintenance staff, vendors, and management regarding invoices and accounting questions
• Assist with year-end preparation, including vendor records and 1099 reporting
• Perform other bookkeeping and administrative accounting duties as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
• 0–3 years of bookkeeping, accounting, or accounts payable experience
• Basic understanding of debits, credits, general ledger accounts, and financial statements
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good organizational and time-management skills
• Comfortable working with spreadsheets and accounting software
• Ability to manage multiple companies, properties, vendors, and bank accounts
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently while also being part of a team

Preferred Experience

The following experience is helpful but not required:

• QuickBooks Online
• Accounts payable automation software
• Property management or real estate accounting
• Property management software such as AppFolio or similar platforms
• Bank and credit card reconciliations
• Microsoft Excel
• Electronic document management and paperless accounting workflows
