Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. This role involves providing high-quality care to patients in a fast-paced emergency setting.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Schedule: Every other weekend; holiday coverage is required during peak seasons.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Emergency Room (ER)
• Bed Capacity: 56 beds with additional hall beds available, increasing capacity to 60-70 beds.
• Fast Track Capacity: 6 beds available for rapid patient care.
• Triage: Separate triage area with 5 beds; travelers may be assigned to triage after passing a test.
• In-house Security: Available for safety and support.
• Emergency Room Patients: Approximately 170-200 patients per day.
• Staffing Ratios: 1:3 for regular acuity; up to 1:4 for low acuity.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an emergency room setting.
• Required Certifications:
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• Strong clinical skills, including experience with a wide range of emergencies such as cardiac conditions, stroke, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis, altered mental status, respiratory issues, and abdominal pain.
• Experience in trauma settings is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced emergency department environment.
• Manage ER holds and coordinate with inpatient nursing staff as necessary.
• Utilize the electronic medical record system (Epic) for documentation and patient care management.
• Work collaboratively with physicians, mid-level providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality care.
• Participate in department orientation and compliance training upon arrival.

Orientation will consist of one day for compliance training and a second day for department-specific training. There is no request time off (RTO) considered during the first full week of assignment.
