Registered Nurse

This position requires experience in a float pool setting across multiple units, including medical/surgical, telemetry, and emergency department boards. Nurses may be floated to various facilities as needed. The nurse to patient ratios are 1:4 in the emergency department holds, and 1:5 in medical/surgical. Common patient diagnoses include postoperative, orthopedic, neurological, medical, and oncology cases. The role involves managing titratable drips such as heparin and insulin on the medical-surgical units and cardizem, amiodarone, nitroglycerin, heparin, and insulin in the emergency department holds. A charge nurse is present on each shift and on each unit, who may also have an assignment. Nurse aides or patient care technicians are available, depending on the unit, with ratios typically ranging from 1:8 to 1:10. Respiratory therapy assists in the units, but nurses are expected to troubleshoot equipment when necessary. There are telemetry/monitor technicians on the units; however, RNs must be proficient in reading and interpreting their own strips. Cancellation policy allows for four shifts per 13-week assignment. Ideal candidates will thrive in a supportive and collaborative culture while adapting to various locations. Shifts will be assigned through an application, and RNs are first to float to different units as needed. No self-scheduling is allowed, and block scheduling may be attempted but is not guaranteed. Weekend coverage is required every other week, with additional holiday staffing as necessary.
