Compensation Specialist

Fordham University is seeking a Compensation Specialist to manage salary architecture and compensation programs. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of HRIS, Compensation, the Compensation Specialist will ensure long‑term integrity of compensation programs and provide consultative guidance to stakeholders across the institution. Essential Functions Lead continuous monitoring and refinement of salary architecture to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness. Analyze compensation issues, develop solutions, and implement process improvements. Conduct market benchmarking and provide formal recommendations for salary band adjustments. Communicate complex grading recommendations, compensation policies, and guidance on job descriptions. Provide formal guidance and training to hiring managers on compensation frameworks and job architecture standards. Maintain the university’s job description database and organizational structure. Evaluate jobs to determine classification and appropriate salary ranges using market survey data and internal equity considerations; review and recommend salary placements for new hires. Prepare data for salary surveys and the HR compensation system. Qualifications Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in compensation, HRIS, or a related analytical field. Required Knowledge and Skills Solid knowledge of compensation practices and ability to apply technical expertise independently. Ability to explain complex technical information and recommendations to diverse audiences. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Understanding of human resource principles, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment regulations and compliance requirements. Strong analytical skills; ability to interpret and communicate data. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Office Suite. Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods. Preferred Qualifications Certification as CCP, SHRM‑SCP/CP, or SPHR/PHR.
