Restaurant Manager

Chicago Firehouse Restaurant – Chicago, IL

Chicago Firehouse Restaurant is seeking an experienced, hands-on Restaurant Manager to join our management team. The ideal candidate is a strong floor leader who understands hospitality, holds employees accountable, and is committed to providing an exceptional guest experience.

The Restaurant Manager will oversee daily front-of-house operations, support and develop the service team, and work closely with the General Manager, Director of Operations, culinary team, and other managers to ensure consistent execution of our service and operating standards.

• Lead daily front-of-house restaurant operations and actively manage the dining room during service.
• Maintain a visible presence on the floor, interacting with guests and ensuring a high level of hospitality.
• Supervise, coach, train, and motivate servers, bartenders, hosts, bussers, and other front-of-house employees.
• Conduct effective pre-shift meetings and ensure the restaurant is fully prepared before opening.
• Monitor service standards, table maintenance, timing, food quality, and overall guest satisfaction.
• Address guest concerns professionally and make appropriate decisions to resolve issues.
• Hold employees accountable for attendance, appearance, performance, side work, and restaurant policies.
• Assist with employee scheduling while maintaining appropriate staffing and controlling labor costs.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and employee development.
• Work closely with the culinary team to maintain strong communication between the front and back of house.
• Develop a working knowledge of the restaurant's food, wine, liquor, and beverage programs.
• Ensure proper cash handling, opening and closing procedures, and POS procedures.
• Assist with private dining and special events as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, safety, and sanitation standards throughout the restaurant.
• Assist senior management with cost controls, operational improvements, and achieving sales and profitability goals.
• Perform additional management responsibilities as needed to support the operation.

• 3+ years of restaurant management experience, preferably in a high-volume, full-service or upscale restaurant.
• Strong leadership and employee-management skills.
• Excellent guest-service and problem-solving abilities.
• Working knowledge of food, wine, spirits, and restaurant service standards.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and making decisions during busy services.
• Experience with Toast POS is a plus.
• Illinois BASSET and Food Service Sanitation certifications preferred or ability to obtain required certifications.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other shifts based on business needs.
