A Brief Overview Under the direction of a qualified provider, assists with performing all Interventional Radiology procedures on all patient populations. Prepares and maintains sterile environment, utilizes aseptic techniques using drapes, equipment, and solutions while assisting the provider. Practice established principles of radiation safety. Participation in on-call schedule. What you will do Prepares procedure room for cases. Familiarity with medical imaging software and equipment operation Sets up all necessary flush and contrast solutions. Checks sterility of all essential supplies. Sets up procedure tray using sterile technique. Enters pertinent patient information into radiology equipment. Applies sterile drape and prepares access site using sterile/aseptic technique. Sets up and flushes manifold and supplies. Assists with procedures as directed by provider. Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, families, and other healthcare providers. Reports problems with equipment and/or supplies immediately to manager/supervisor. Makes recommendations to manager on related duties, policies, and procedures. Assists as needed during emergencies. Maintain a positive attitude and calm composure. Promotes teamwork through collaboration. Maintains good work relationships with coworkers. Member of the on-call team as assigned. Ensures that items used during a procedure are scanned tracking system under patient account. Demonstrates expert clinical skills and participates in training new employees when required. Maintains a clean and orderly work environment. Return all equipment and supplies to designated areas. Returns reusable trays and equipment to Central Supply for sterilization. Ensures strict adherence to standards of care, attire in the procedure rooms, and sterile traffic patterns. Performs procedures according to established organizational protocol and/or provider direction. Complies with manufacturers’ guidelines for use and maintenance of supplies and equipment. Possess knowledge of radiation safety and universal precautions. Acquire and retain knowledge of organizational and departmental fire and safety regulations, disaster plans, hazardous materials and their appropriate disposal. Reports any hazardous conditions immediately. Responds and adapts to changing departmental needs and procedures. Contributes to Quality Improvement initiatives. Learns new procedures through observation and relevant sources. Completes mandatory competencies and in-services. Identifies own learning needs. Pursues opportunities for professional growth Accepts feedback on personal and professional development in a positive manner. Recognizes limits and asks for assistance when needed. Education Qualifications Trade/Vocational School Graduate from an accredited college or school of Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular, or Scrub Technology required Experience Qualifications 1-2 years Interventional Radiology, Endovascular, and /or Neurovascular experience preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and pathology, with an emphasis on the vascular systems. Knowledge of radiation protection. Knowledge of neuro and interventional radiology supplies and techniques.
