Maintenance Technician 2

This position is primarily responsible for the day-to-day support of production and operations at SAFE Boats with a focus on facilities maintenance. This position will be responsible for operating equipment on and off the shop floor, including cranes and lifts. This position works outside 25-50% of the time.

This role involves operating cranes, forklifts, scissor lifts, and other machinery. It requires the use of tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices. The technician will support the troubleshooting and repair of production equipment from basic welding and hydraulic equipment to complex CNC machinery and cranes, performing both electrical and mechanical work.

The technician must recognize improper tool function and take corrective action with safety in mind. They will perform load testing – including placement and use of chain binders, chain falls, load cell/dyno meter, lifting swings, ratchet straps, winches, blocks. They will move items and equipment, trailers, pallets, carts, jigs, etc. and operate a variety of vehicles (CDL License a plus). They will transport and load out a variety of items including parts, equipment, furniture, building materials, etc. They will assist with facility related efforts such as loading of boats, load testing, sea trails with other departments in the organization.

Conducting general facility tasks such as painting, office/furniture moves, minor misc. repairs, hose repair, minor plumbing repair, yard maintenance, etc. Performing minor electrical repair and maintenance on wall switches, outlets, sockets & ballasts. Removing rubbish and recycled material throughout the production facility as needed. Restocking paper products and cleaning facility restrooms as needed. Completing tasks within expected timelines with quality outcome/results. Identifying additional resources as needed. May perform janitorial, landscape, and basic construction tasks to meet the needs of the business. Participating in regular meetings, prioritizing maintenance work.

Documenting work performed and communicating to necessary departments/parties. Performing other duties as assigned.

Core Skills and Experience we are looking for: Two or more years of experience working in a facilities and maintenance department, preferably in manufacturing. Two or more years of experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and conducting minor repairs on tools, machinery, and equipment. Able to read and interpret basic technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Basic Math/tape measure reading skills. Clean driving record. Computer skills including Outlook and Word, software programs related to equipment maintenance and capabilities a plus. Ability to work independently and on a team. Must be organized and able to prioritize with follow-through to completion of tasks. Must be able to effectively communicate with a variety of people, such as Managers, Team Members, guests, vendors, and customers.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. without assistance. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to complete tasks. Must be able to work at heights and/or confined spaces. Must be able to operate a forklift and scissor lift. Ability to drive and maneuver large equipment, including driving large trucks. Position requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to complete tasks. Must be able to spend most of a workday outdoors in a variety of conditions.

Education and Required Experience: High School diploma or GED.
