Staff Accountant @ $1BN Real Estate Company

Overview A vertically integrated real estate company with a robust portfolio spanning commercial, residential, and mixed-use properties is seeking to hire a Staff Accountant located in New York, NY. This role provides a unique opportunity to delve into the complexities of real estate accounting and significantly impact the firm’s financial operations. Reporting directly to the Controller, you will play a vital role in maintaining our financial integrity and supporting the long term growth of the firm. Base pay range $70,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr Responsibilities Oversee balance sheet and profit & loss (P&L) reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP. Post journal entries into the General Ledger (GL), including accruals, prepaids, and intercompany transactions. Utilize Excel to analyze large data sets and create reports. Perform detailed monthly variance analysis, providing insights and recommendations for financial performance improvements. Conduct thorough account reconciliations and reclassifications to maintain data integrity. Oversee cash management activities related to new projects, including fund transfers and cash flow forecasting. Perform in-depth cash analysis to support decision-making. Assist in the development and monitoring of the annual budget, collaborating with department heads to ensure alignment with company goals. Partner with the wider accounting team to prepare detailed supporting documentation for the annual audit, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Minimum of 2 years of corporate accounting experience. Real estate industry experience is highly desirable. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced VLOOKUPs and pivot tables. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
