This role is focused primarily on Accounts Payables ensuring accurate and timely financial transactions. Position Summary The Accounting Specialist - AP performs a wide range of accounting and financial support functions to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial activities and records. This position may have responsibilities in supporting all areas of accounting in accordance with organizational policies, internal controls and applicable accounting standards. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this position will be responsible for Accounts Payable and will reconcile bank accounts. The role is also expected to support day-to-day financial operations, monthly and year-end close processes, audit preparation, and regulatory reporting. Requirements Essential Functions Grants, Scholarships and Other Accounts Payable Enter all expenses into database ensuring proper coding. Partner with Impact team to complete preparation of grants and scholarships for payment. Complete payments for all expenses including preparing checks, positive pay, and ACH payments. Support tracking of restricted grant and program activity. Monitor and reconcile accounts, grants, annuity, lease and other payables. Assist the Accounting Manager with credit card program usage and monitoring. Maintain vendor records and prepare annual filings including 1099s. General Accounting and Collaboration Reconcile cash and investment accounts. Support monitoring of daily cash balances. Assist in maintaining the integrity of the foundation’s financial records. Maintain documentation. Assist with the compilation of data necessary to complete Form 990. Assist with the annual audit and provide support schedules and reports. Provide specific fund reporting requested by other staff. Assist the Accounting Manager and Vice President, Finance and Operations with special projects as needed. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 3 years of general accounting experience preferred. **Combination of education including accounting courses and three to five years of relevant AP experience will also be considered. Knowledge of accounting standards and regulations. Familiarity with GAAP. Experience in the nonprofit sector or foundations preferred. Familiarity with integrated databases. Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Excellent project management and organizational skills. Outstanding professional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality. Demonstrated professionalism and strong work ethic. Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office (with advanced proficiency in Excel preferred). Experience with AkoyaGO or Microsoft Business Central a plus. A hybrid work environment exists, allowing for some remote work as relevant to position. Requires at least 3 in-office days per week May occasionally travel throughout Idaho and outside the state.
