Executive Chef – AltaToro

K5 Hospitality, a leader in the Atlanta dining scene, is seeking a passionate, experienced, and driven Executive Chef to join the team at AltaToro . This is a unique opportunity to lead a talented culinary team in a high-volume, chef-driven kitchen where creativity, leadership, consistency, and a deep understanding of Latin cuisine are essential.

The ideal candidate will have extensive professional experience working within Latin culinary culture and cuisine , with a strong understanding of traditional Latin ingredients, techniques, flavors, and cooking styles. Fluency in Spanish is required , as the Executive Chef will work closely with a predominantly Spanish-speaking culinary team.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, inspire, train, and develop the culinary team while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, execution, and presentation.
• Create and execute innovative menus that reflect the restaurant's concept while balancing food quality, creativity, and cost.
• Bring a strong understanding of Latin culinary culture, cuisine, ingredients, and cooking techniques to the kitchen and menu development process.
• Oversee daily kitchen operations, including prep, service, sanitation, and closing procedures.
• Communicate effectively with the culinary team in Spanish and English to ensure clear expectations, training, and execution.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and food-handling standards.
• Manage inventory, ordering, receiving, product quality, and vendor relationships.
• Monitor food and labor costs and implement strategies to maintain profitability without compromising quality.
• Collaborate with ownership and management on menu development, special events, seasonal offerings, and overall restaurant operations.
• Foster a culture of respect, accountability, teamwork, and hospitality within the kitchen.
• Maintain consistency and high standards in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Qualifications:

• Culinary degree from an accredited institution required.
• Proven experience as an Executive Chef or Chef de Cuisine in a high-volume, upscale restaurant .
• Extensive professional experience with Latin cuisine and a strong understanding of Latin culinary culture is required.
• Fluent Spanish-speaking ability is required.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead, train, and motivate a diverse culinary team.
• Advanced culinary skills with a passion for creativity, quality, and consistency.
• Strong knowledge of Latin ingredients, traditional techniques, flavor profiles, and culinary traditions.
• Solid understanding of food cost, inventory management, scheduling, labor management, and kitchen profitability.
• ServSafe certification or equivalent preferred.
• Must be organized, detail-oriented, hands-on, and able to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Must lead by example and be actively involved in daily kitchen operations.
