Facilities Maintenance Supervisor

The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is a working supervisor responsible for overseeing all facility and equipment maintenance/upgrades, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operations across the plant. This role is a hands-on leader who will initially operate as a department of one while building processes, systems, and eventually a team to support future growth.

Job Responsibilities

/ Develop, implement, and maintain preventative maintenance programs for facility systems and equipment.

/ Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a wide range of machinery and building systems, including electrical, mechanical, and basic plumbing/HVAC.

/ Oversee general facility upkeep and upgrades including lighting, building structure, and overall plant condition.

/ Maintain and track inventory of maintenance supplies, spare parts, consumables, and filters.

/ Establish organized systems for work orders, maintenance schedules, and inventory management.

/ Partner with operations and leadership to minimize downtime and support production efficiency.

/ Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, cost savings, and equipment reliability enhancements.

/ Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.

/ Coordinate external vendors and contractors as needed.

/ Operate initially as a department of one while building processes and infrastructure for future growth.

/ Supervise janitorial staff responsible for facility cleanliness including floor cleaning (including sweeper operation), trash and recycling removal, general cleaning (windows, stairwells, common areas, etc.).

/ Provide leadership, direction, and accountability for facility standards and housekeeping.

Supervisory Duties, When Established

/ Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

/ Planning and directing work.

/ Appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

/ Assisting with interviewing, hiring, and training employees.

/ Creating, maintaining, and training employees on relevant work instructions.

/ Maintaining consumables, tools, and equipment logs.

/ Ensuring safety policies in areas and PPE requirements are being met.

/ Strong mechanical aptitude with experience across multiple types of equipment and systems.

Education and Experience:

/ High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or trade school preferred.

/ Minimum of 5+ years of experience in maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

/ Experience working with fabrication equipment and facility systems preferred.

/ Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

/ Demonstrated success in a similar role with increasing responsibility.

/ Experience managing inventory and maintenance systems strongly preferred.

Physical Demands:

/ The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, hear, and talk.

/ The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

/ Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.

/ This position may occasionally require extended hours or schedule flexibility.

/ Must be able and willing to travel locally between Buffalo and Tonawanda, NY, and visit field service work sites as needed.

/ Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

/ Work environment includes both office and industrial/manufacturing settings.
