Job Overview The College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Cincinnati is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and student-focused Assistant Director for Recruitment to join our Office of Recruitment & Enrollment. In this role, you will help lead the development, implementation, and assessment of recruitment strategies that support the college’s enrollment goals and strengthen A&S visibility with prospective students, families, school counselors, community partners, and campus stakeholders. As a key representative of A&S, the Assistant Director will manage assigned recruitment territories and/or programmatic recruitment areas, develop data-informed territory plans, coordinate projects that advance the college’s recruitment and yield strategy, and support initiatives that showcase the breadth and value of an Arts and Sciences education. This position will play an important role in building relationships, improving recruitment processes, supporting cross-functional collaboration, and ensuring that prospective students experience A&S as a destination for discovery, growth, and opportunity. This hybrid position requires three days per week in the office on UC’s Uptown Campus and two days working remotely. The Assistant Director for Recruitment will represent the college at high school visits, college fairs, community outreach programs, counselor events, on-campus programs, and other recruitment activities. We are seeking someone who brings strong project management, communication, relationship‑building, and data‑informed planning skills to help shape the next generation of A&S Bearcats. Essential Functions Assist in the development, implementation, and assessment of recruitment strategies, programs, and events for the College of Arts and Sciences, including initiatives targeting assigned student populations, geographic territories, academic programs, and/or special recruitment markets. Serve as a representative of the College of Arts and Sciences to ensure enrollment goals are met while maintaining fiscal responsibility. Act as a primary resource for prospective students, families, counselors, community partners, and campus stakeholders interested in A&S programs and pathways. Develop and manage territory‑specific recruitment plans informed by market research, enrollment trends, historical data, feeder school performance, application and yield metrics, and college and university enrollment priorities. Manage assigned geographic and/or programmatic recruitment territories for the College of Arts and Sciences. Build and maintain relationships with high school counselors, community‑based organizations, community colleges, academic departments, alumni partners, and other key influencers that support A&S enrollment goals. Make data‑driven decisions to coordinate and execute recruitment travel, including college fairs, middle/high school visits, community organization visits, community college engagement, counselor programs, and other off‑campus outreach efforts. Travel extensively during key time periods (8‑12 weeks in the fall and 3‑6 weeks in the spring) and work evenings, weekends, and non‑traditional hours as needed to effectively support both on‑campus and off‑campus recruitment efforts. Maintain and utilize information about prospective students, schools, organizations, and recruitment markets to advise, encourage, and support students from first inquiry through application, admission, and enrollment in A&S. Implement and clearly explain admissions policies, procedures, academic pathways, and program requirements, ensuring students and families understand opportunities within Arts and Sciences and the broader University of Cincinnati. Essential Functions (cont'd) Coordinate and manage one or more specialized programmatic areas that advance A&S recruitment goals, such as on‑campus and off‑campus events, student ambassador/tour guide programs, outreach and access initiatives, communications and marketing, transfer recruitment, community partnerships, counselor engagement, yield initiatives, or other assigned priorities. Oversee special projects and cross‑functional initiatives as assigned, including collaboration with academic departments, A&S units, Central Admissions, regional campuses, Strategic Enrollment Management, Student Success and Access, Student Affairs, and other campus partners. Establish project timelines, define deliverables, coordinate stakeholders, track progress, assess outcomes, and recommend improvements to ensure recruitment initiatives are completed on schedule and aligned with college and university priorities. Compile data required for internal and external reports and assessments. Generate reports, interpret and disseminate information, and provide recommendations to inform recruitment planning, territory management, communications, events, and yield strategy. Assist in the development of recruitment and promotional materials, presentations, workshops, communications, and other resources that showcase the breadth, value, and student experience of the College of Arts and Sciences as assigned. Maintain collaborative relationships with departments and units regarding recruitment efforts that enrich the prospective student experience. Stay informed about trends in student recruitment, changes in academic programs, admissions practices, and student transition needs. Evaluate applications for admission to the College of Arts and Sciences and make holistic, well‑informed decisions that align with enrollment goals and uphold university standards of fairness and accuracy. Use a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to track interactions, maintain records, prepare reports, and analyze data to inform future recruitment planning and strategy. Serve on various university, division, college, and departmental committees, and represent the college at state, regional, and national associations or professional meetings as appropriate and assigned. May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non‑exempt staff, student employees, ambassadors, interns, or temporary staff, including hiring, onboarding, training, performance feedback, scheduling, and other supervisory responsibilities as assigned. Additional Qualifications Considered Master’s Degree Experience with Slate or other CRM software. Previous supervisory and project management experience. Comfortability with public speaking to both small and large groups. Desire to use data to help manage a recruitment strategy.
