Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Oncology Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a Medical Surgical or Oncology setting preferred. License: Valid nursing license required. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, Oncology certification preferred. Must-Have: Current acute care experience within the last 12 months. Experience with telemetry and IV therapy management. Ability to float to other medical surgical and oncology units as needed. Description: This position is for a registered nurse specializing in medical surgical oncology. Candidates are required to have experience in medical surgical nursing. Oncology experience is preferred but not mandatory. The goal for staffing ratios is 1:4 but may occasionally be adjusted to 1:5. Weekend shifts will vary based on unit needs. There is no set or blocked scheduling available for staff. Floating to other medical surgical and oncology units may be necessary. Patient diagnoses include lymphoma, multiple myeloma, acute and chronic leukemias, sickle cell disease, and other hematological conditions. Special procedures and responsibilities include chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and management of oncologic emergencies. A strong focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention strategies is required. Healthcare providers will work with interdisciplinary support teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Computerized charting will be performed using the Epic system. Candidates must complete fingerprinting as part of compliance measures. Professional references from previous supervisors are required.
