Staff Accountant

Staff AccountantOur client is seeking a staff accountant to support the accounting team by preparing and analyzing financial schedules, performing general accounting functions, and managing full-cycle accounts payable. This role is responsible for supporting the month-end close process, preparing sales tax filings, reconciling accounts, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.Key ResponsibilitiesCompliance & ReportingPrepare and file state sales tax returns and respond to customer sales tax inquiriesCoordinate business licensing and ensure compliance with regulatory requirementsSupport external financial and tax audits by preparing required schedules and documentationFinancial Analysis & Account ReconciliationPrepare and analyze financial schedules and supporting documentationReconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepanciesVerify and reconcile corporate credit card transactionsIdentify and resolve accounting issues to ensure accurate financial reportingMonth-End Close & General AccountingAssist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliationsMaintain fixed asset records and support accurate asset trackingSupport cash management activities, including ACH and wire payment processingEnsure timely and accurate completion of monthly financial reportingFinancial Data Management & ReportingMaintain and update financial spreadsheets and large data sets using Microsoft ExcelPrepare supplemental financial reports and analyses for managementSupport continuous improvement of reporting processes and financial data accuracyCollaborate with internal departments to improve workflows and reporting efficiencyRequirementsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent accounting experience5–7 years of accounting experience in a similar roleCPA preferred but not requiredStrong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principlesAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, and complex formulasExperience with ERP systems; NetSuite experience preferredFamiliarity with Avalara, Sovos, or similar sales tax software is a plusKnowledge of state sales tax regulations and filing requirementsStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines with exceptional attention to detail
