Job information Position: Packaging Machine Operator Location: Buffalo, New York Shifts: Primarily 1st shift 7:00 am – 5:30 pm Monday – Thursday, 10‑hour shifts. At times, Monday‑Friday (5 days). Season schedules: Non‑peak season: Jan – Feb & May – September (approximately 39 weeks) Peak season: March – April & October – December (approximately 13 weeks) 2nd shift hours required during peak season: 4:00 pm – 12:30 am. Summary Monitors and maneuvers product on conveyors. This department is volume‑driven. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepares product for bulk transport. Continuously monitors condition, construction and graphics of each box. Monitors overall appearance of finished product, including packaging appearance and label. Keeps work area clean and organized. Responsible for sanitation practices and working with chemicals. Clean and sanitize all equipment to meet regulatory standards. Tear down and set up all equipment for sanitation, also to include all packaging equipment. Ability to set up and operate all packaging and related equipment. Responsible for quality efficiencies, downtime and other tasks and jobs as required. Efficiently start up and change over the machine. Continuously checks the product for proper texture, general appearance, and product contamination. Monitors the size and shape of the cut ensuring that it meets requirements of desired size and type. Spot checks packages for errors in printing, color, registration, type setting, sharpness, clarity and print location. Accurately performs and records in the metal detector log, operational log, package film report, package loss report. Requirements Qualifications Previous food manufacturing experience preferred. Attention to detail and accuracy in work required. Able to work in a cool environment. Uniform provided. Education and/or Experience High School Diploma/GED required.
