Our client provider of digital technology and transformation, information technology and services Position: Lead I - Software Engineering Location: Aliso Viejo, CA Duration: 6 Months Job Type: Temporary Assignment Work Type: Remote Job Description: About the Role We are looking for a hands-on Subject Matter Expert to support the design of a modern, cloud-native CPE device management platform. This role will help consolidate fragmented, vendor-specific device management approaches into a unified, standards-based control plane, with a clear migration path from TR-069 to TR-369 (USP) and support for Prpl OS-based devices at scale. Key Responsibilities: Advise on the target architecture for a unified, cloud-native CPE control plane spanning multiple device vendors and SKUs. Guide the migration strategy from legacy TR-069/CWMP to TR-369 (USP) streaming telemetry for an installed base of millions of devices. Provide deep technical input on Prpl OS integration for new and converted devices. Support solution design for device provisioning, firmware/configuration rollout, fault diagnosis, and fleet-wide telemetry at scale. Review and validate technical approach documents and architecture diagrams against real-world ACS/device-management operational constraints. Partner with delivery, cloud engineering, and AI/spec-driven development teams to ensure the technical design reflects field-proven device management practices. Required Expertise: ACS Platforms: 5+ years of hands-on experience with Auto Configuration Server architecture and operations. Broadband CPE Lifecycle Management: 5+ years of experience in provisioning, configuration, firmware/security updates, monitoring, and fault diagnosis across multi-vendor device fleets. TR-069: 4+ years of experience with CPE WAN Management Protocol (CWMP), including RPC methods, TR-181 data model, session/connection handling, and vendor-proprietary extensions. TR-369 / USP: 2+ years of experience, or strong TR-069 background with demonstrated TR-369 project exposure, including MQTT/WebSocket/CoAP transport bindings, pub/sub telemetry model, and USP Agent/Controller architecture. Prpl OS: 2+ years of experience or direct project exposure with the cross-vendor Linux-based abstraction layer, including device-side integration and interoperability across vendor implementations. Large-Scale Telecom Device Management: 5+ years of proven experience operating device fleets in the multi-million range, including rollout staging, canary patching, rollback, and vendor/SKU heterogeneity. Nice to Have: Prior involvement with Broadband Forum working groups or prpl Foundation initiatives. Experience migrating a live device fleet from TR-069 to TR-369 without field truck rolls. Background in spec-driven or standards-driven software development methodologies. Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, such as AWS or equivalent platforms, for telecom fleet management solutions.
