CNC Machinist

CNC MachinistThe CNC Machinist is responsible for setup, operation, and basic programming adjustments on CNC milling and/or turning centers to produce precision components to print specifications. This role requires attention to detail, comfort working in a high-mix/low-volume environment, and the ability to maintain tight tolerances on critical features.Responsibilities and DutiesSet up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes including vertical, horizontal, and multi-axis machines.Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions to determine machining requirements.Verify dimensions using micrometers, calipers, height gages, bore gages, and other precision instruments.Maintain tight tolerances (often within ±0.0001? depending on component).Make tooling, offsets, and program adjustments using G and M codes as required.Run existing CNC programs with the ability to make minor edits for efficiency or dimensional accuracy.Machine a variety of metals (tool steels, stainless steels, aluminum, etc.) and non-metal materials as required.Work within a job-shop scheduling environment: high mix, low volume, short runs.Inspect parts during and after machining to ensure quality standards and print compliance.Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.Collaborate with engineering, tooling, and grinding departments as needed.EducationHigh school diploma or equivalentJourneyman, trade school, or formal apprenticeship a plus but not required.Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies3+ years of CNC machining experienceVertical and/or horizontal machining experience (4th and 5th axis a plus).Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g., MasterCAM, SolidWorks, Fusion 360) is a plus.Experience machining tight-tolerance components for high-precision assemblies.Grinding experience (surface, OD/ID, or jig) is preferred.Ability to interpret and modify G and M code.Comfortable running programs written by others.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods.Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.Ability to lift heavy materials as required in a manufacturing environment.What's in it for you?There's no monopoly on innovative ideas or limits to how far you can advance with our team.
