Property Accountant

Job Description: We are seeking a Property Accountant to oversee the financial reporting and day-to-day accounting activities for an assigned portfolio of real estate properties. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, partnering with operational teams, and ensuring the accuracy of financial information while supporting month-end close and reporting processes. Key Responsibilities: Maintain the general ledger and prepare monthly financial statements for assigned properties. Perform account reconciliations, including bank accounts and balance sheet accounts, to ensure accurate financial reporting. Prepare journal entries for accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and other recurring transactions. Process and monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable activity, including tenant payments and vendor invoices. Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities by preparing supporting schedules and workpapers. Prepare lender reporting packages and other recurring financial reports. Review tenant billings, rent rolls, CAM reconciliations, and other property-related accounting transactions. Collaborate with property management and operations teams to resolve accounting issues and provide financial insights. Support annual budgeting, forecasting, audits, and tax filing requirements. Participate in process improvements and additional accounting projects as needed. Qualifications: Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Two or more years of accounting experience; real estate or property accounting experience is preferred. Experience with Yardi or another property management accounting system is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Solid understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
