Job Title

Registered Nurse – Neuro PCU (IMC/Stepdown)

Contract | Days | 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to adult patients with neurological conditions including neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, neuro-specific diagnoses, and medical overflow
• Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and participate in Rapid Response and Code teams
• Administer IV therapy, blood products, and cardiac drips (no titration); manage central and peripheral line care and perform phlebotomy
• Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Monitor patients in dedicated continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring beds as assigned
• Float to other units within clinical skillset as required; maintain isolation precautions per facility protocol

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia State RN license or active Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system required
• Demonstrated competency in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and neurological patient care
• Ability to work weekends (every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block) and at least one holiday per 13-week contract
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates within 50 miles may be considered for a single non-extendable 13-week assignment only

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a PCU, stepdown, or IMC setting with a neurological or neurosurgical patient population
• Familiarity with stroke management protocols and neuro-specific care pathways
• Comfort working at a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
