About the Position

Job Title

Registered Nurse – Neuro PCU (IMC/Stepdown)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to adult patients with neurological conditions including neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, neuro-specific diagnoses, and medical overflow
• Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and participate in Rapid Response and Code teams
• Administer IV therapy, blood products, and cardiac drips (no titration); maintain central and peripheral line care
• Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Monitor patients within a dedicated epilepsy unit offering continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring
• Float to other units within clinical skillset as required; adhere to isolation precautions

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia State RN license or active Compact RN license (pending license considered only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state)
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
• Demonstrated experience with phlebotomy, medication administration, and IV therapy
• Comfort with a 1:4–1:5 patient ratio

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a Neuro PCU, IMC, or Stepdown unit setting
• Experience with neurosurgical recovery and stroke management protocols
• Travel nursing experience welcomed; first-time travelers accepted
