Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown (Float)

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Float between PCU and Medical-Surgical units as staffing needs are re-evaluated; floating may occur up to every 4 hours within a shift
• Provide stepdown-level nursing care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and titration of cardiac drips
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and manage PCA and heparin protocols
• Manage central line care, trach care, non-invasive airway support (nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP), and chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac)
• Administer IV insulin and manage endocrine and metabolic conditions
• Respond to emergencies as part of Rapid Response and Code teams

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia State or Compact RN license (pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
• Demonstrated experience in telemetry, stepdown, PCU, DOU, or IMC-level care
• Must be comfortable working all PCU and Medical-Surgical units
• Must be available to work one holiday per 13-week contract period; two holidays required during winter holiday scheduling blocks

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Cardiovascular experience including pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care
• Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers are also considered)
• Familiarity with high-acuity float pool environments and flexible scheduling demands
