About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a large hospital setting preferred. License: Any active state RN license or compact license accepted. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required. Must-Have: - Must pass an online EKG Tele competency assessment prior to starting the assignment. - Must float to all step-down/advanced care units. - Must be willing to work every other holiday. - Must have experience with advanced care level drips. Description: This unit takes advanced care level patients. Experience with advanced care/step-down units preferred. It is a mixed acuity unit. Targeted patient ratios are 1:4, but they can increase to 1:5-6. Nurses may function in either team nursing or primary nursing based on unit needs. The goal of this model is to improve both workload and patient care. Nurses are expected to maintain both Medical-Surgical and Advanced Care competencies. The patient population includes chest pain rule-outs, syncope, abdominal pain, congestive heart failure, COPD, vertigo, and cellulitis requiring IV antibiotics. The unit cares for a significant number of cardiac patients. Nurses must be proficient in cardiac telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation. They are responsible for the management and titration of select cardiac drips according to hospital policy and provider orders. Strong assessment skills and close patient monitoring are required. The fast-paced environment demands excellent critical thinking and prioritization skills. Nurses will care for various patient conditions while facilitating efficient progression and discharge. Floating may occur to other units based on skillsets and census needs.
