Senior Scientist II

AbbVie seeks a Senior Scientist II to lead development and transfer of manufacturing processes for medical aesthetics products, particularly dermal fillers. The role involves designing experiments, executing manufacturing operations, and collaborating across global teams to ensure product quality and process robustness.

Responsibilities

• Scale up and develop manufacturing processes for novel medical devices to improve robustness and transferability
• Lead execution of manufacturing operations including synthesis, purification, sterilization, and product filling
• Design and execute experiments to understand critical process parameters and acceptable ranges
• Draft regulatory documentation including work instructions, batch records, and protocols
• Transfer manufacturing processes to internal and external manufacturing sites and serve as technical consultant

Requirements

• BS with 12+ years industry experience, MS with 10+ years, or Ph.D. with 4+ years in biomedical engineering, biomaterials, or chemical engineering
• Thorough theoretical and practical understanding of own scientific discipline
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for research and regulatory materials
• Medical device and combination product development experience preferred
• Design of experiments and statistical analysis expertise
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including sterilization and compounding
