Locums Emergency Medicine Physician

We are seeking a Locums Emergency Medicine Physician to provide coverage at a community-based emergency department in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. This is an excellent opportunity to practice in a physician-led emergency department with solo coverage, a manageable patient volume, and the support of a nearby full-service hospital.

Position Highlights

24-hour physician coverage

No Advanced Practice Provider (APP) coverage

Facility Details

12-bed Emergency Department

Average daily census of approximately 30 patients

On-site CT, X-ray, and laboratory services

Affiliated with HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital

Access to specialist consultation through the main hospital, including:

Cardiology

General Surgery

Orthopedic Surgery

Nephrology

Ultrasound capabilities available through transfer protocols

EMR: Meditech

Responsibilities

Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with a wide range of emergency medical conditions.

Stabilize critically ill or injured patients and determine appropriate disposition.

Perform emergency procedures within the scope of Emergency Medicine practice.

Manage patients independently during assigned shifts.

Coordinate transfers and specialty consultations when appropriate.

Collaborate with nursing staff and ancillary departments to deliver high-quality patient care.

Complete accurate and timely documentation using Meditech.

Qualifications

MD or DO

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine, or

Board Certified Family Medicine or Internal Medicine with current Emergency Medicine experience

Active Florida medical license (or ability to obtain)

Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications preferred

DEA registration
