Ellenhorn is a nationally recognized mental health program specializing in the treatment of individuals living with mental illness and co-occurring conditions. We are hiring two chefs: one for a four-day, 10-hour schedule, and another for a three-day, 10-hour schedule.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced, passionate Chef to join our team in Arlington, MA. This role is ideal for a culinary professional who takes pride in preparing high-quality, nutritious meals and values consistency, reliability, and teamwork. The Chef plays an essential role in supporting our residents' health and well-being by delivering meals that are both nourishing and enjoyable.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Cook two meals a day and snacks for approximately 1520 clients and staff
• Create nutritious, well-balanced, and visually appealing meals
• Plan menus that incorporate dietary guidelines and nutritional considerations
• Accommodate food allergies and specialized dietary needs
• Manage grocery purchasing, food inventory, and kitchen supplies
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of kitchen and storage areas
• Maintain professional, respectful interactions while adhering to appropriate client boundaries within a residential setting.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Physical Demands: Must be able to lift a minimum of 25lbs, must be able to work on their feet 7.5 -10 hours per day excluding breaks, must be able to work under pressure and time deadlines, must have a valid Driver's License, clean driver's record and a reliable automobile
• Work Environment: Most work is performed indoors in the kitchen setting

Requirements

• B.S. Degree in Culinary Arts, Culinary Nutrition, Nutrition Sciences, or related field
• Minimum of 5 years of professional culinary experience
• Experience preparing health-focused meals, including Keto / Metabolic Wellness-inspired cuisine
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
• High level of reliability, professionalism, and consistency

Qualifications Desired

• Strong preference to those with formal nutrition training
• ServSafe Certification
