For over 30 years, Polar Shades has been designing, manufacturing, and installing premium custom shading systems for residential and commercial customers throughout the Southwest and across the United States. Unlike many retailers, we manufacture the products we sell, allowing us to deliver superior quality, customization, and customer service. Position Overview The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and profitability of Polar Shades of Arizona's retail division. This individual will oversee approximately 20 employees across sales, customer service, installation, scheduling, and administration while ensuring the business consistently delivers outstanding service and operational excellence. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving revenue growth, improving operational efficiency, developing employees, and maintaining the exceptional reputation Polar Shades has built over the past three decades. Primary Responsibilities Business Leadership Lead all day-to-day operations of the Arizona retail division. Drive revenue growth while maintaining strong gross margins and profitability. Manage departmental budgets, expenses, and operational performance. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs). Work closely with executive leadership to execute strategic initiatives. Lead and coach the in-home sales team. Improve closing percentages and average project value. Promote premium products, including motorized shading systems and outdoor living solutions. Ensure an exceptional customer experience from the initial consultation through project completion. Operations Management Oversee scheduling, project coordination, installation, and customer service. Improve workflow and operational efficiency. Reduce installation callbacks, warranty issues, and production delays. Coordinate closely with the manufacturing team to ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule. Leadership & Team Development Recruit, hire, train, and develop employees. Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching. Customer Experience Resolve escalated customer concerns professionally and promptly. Maintain Polar Shades' reputation for outstanding quality and service. Encourage customer referrals and long-term relationships. Qualifications Required Minimum five years of management experience. Experience leading teams of 15 or more employees. Strong operational, financial, and organizational skills. Excellent communication and leadership abilities. Experience managing customer-facing businesses. Valid driver's license. Preferred Experience in one or more of the following industries: Window coverings Home improvement Construction Windows and doors HVAC Flooring Kitchen and bath remodeling Specialty retail Experience using CRM and business management software is preferred.
