Learn more about the UNT System and how we live our values at Department Summary The University of North Texas at Dallas (UNT Dallas) is part of the UNT System, which also includes UNT Denton and UNT Health Fort Worth. UNT Dallas, a standalone university in southern Dallas, invites applications for a full‑time faculty position in Mathematics, beginning Fall 2026. This tenure‑track position is offered at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate will be expected to achieve excellence in teaching and to participate in the continued development of the UNT Dallas Department of Mathematics, which offers a B.A. with Secondary Teacher Certification and a B.S. in Mathematics. Position Overview Expectations for tenure‑track faculty at UNT Dallas include excellent teaching, research, and service, resulting in contributions equivalent to a four‑course load each semester. This workload can be fulfilled through a combination of teaching, high‑quality research and scholarship, service, and program development. Faculty are also expected to participate in service activities such as curriculum development, student recruiting and advising, program assessment, and committee leadership. The ideal candidate will be committed to advancing UNT Dallas’s Classroom‑to‑Career initiative—an effort that bridges academic achievement and career readiness. This includes strengthening industry partnerships, embedding experiential learning (internships, research, service learning) into the curriculum, integrating career and character competencies, and fostering AI fluency and essential power skills such as communication, adaptability, teamwork, and leadership. The candidate should support the development of new academic programs aligned with workforce needs and pathways to family‑sustaining careers. Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related field by start date Evidence or demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching Experience teaching college‑level Mathematics courses Demonstrated potential for excellence in scholarship Demonstrated effective written, verbal, and team‑building communication skills Knowledge, Skills and Abilities We are particularly interested in student‑centric, innovative, and energetic candidates who can help lead the development of UNT Dallas’s Department of Mathematics through program development, student recruitment, and community outreach. We seek an experienced leader and mathematician who can teach a range of mathematics courses. The new faculty member is expected to develop an active research program with undergraduates and to advise student organizations and develop courses and programs. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics Experience using high‑impact teaching practices Demonstrated research productivity Experience supervising undergraduate research students Experience in curriculum development and developing interdisciplinary degree programs Experience building and supervising student organizations Experience developing and implementing STEM‑related service learning in curricular and co‑curricular settings, and implementing activities that enable students to move from classroom to career Academic experience working with a wide‑ranging student population Job Duties Teach the equivalent of four courses per semester Achieve excellence in teaching, research, and service Establish a research program, preferably involving undergraduate students Participate in curriculum development, student recruiting and advising, program assessment, and committee work Other duties as assigned by administration Physical Requirements Communicating with others to exchange information Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds Moving in various positions to perform tasks in tight and confined spaces Sedentary work primarily involving sitting/standing Environmental Hazards No adverse environmental conditions expected Work Schedule As required by teaching duties, service, and research.
