An established litigation practice is seeking an Insurance Defense Associate Attorney with 3–5 years of experience to join its New York City office. This opportunity offers hands-on litigation responsibility, courtroom exposure, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to handle sophisticated insurance defense and personal injury defense matters from inception through resolution.

A respected law firm is seeking an Insurance Defense Associate Attorney to join its growing New York City, New York litigation practice. This position is ideal for attorneys who are looking to further develop their litigation skills while handling meaningful insurance defense and personal injury defense matters on behalf of insurance carriers, businesses, and insured clients.

The successful candidate will gain substantial responsibility in all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, settlement negotiations, court appearances, and trial preparation. Associates will work directly with clients while building sophisticated litigation and case management skills in a collaborative environment.

This position rarely becomes available at this level and is actively interviewing qualified candidates.

Job Responsibilities

• Represent clients in insurance defense and personal injury defense matters

• Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and other litigation documents

• Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategies

• Manage written discovery, document production, and discovery responses

• Prepare and defend depositions involving parties, witnesses, and experts

• Attend court appearances, conferences, hearings, and trials

• Negotiate settlements and participate in mediation proceedings

• Analyze liability, damages, and litigation risk issues

• Communicate regularly with clients regarding case developments and strategy

• Manage multiple active litigation matters while meeting court deadlines

• Assist with trial preparation and evidentiary development

• Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to achieve favorable client outcomes

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of insurance defense litigation experience

• Active admission to the New York State Bar

• Strong litigation, analytical, and problem-solving skills

• Experience drafting substantive motions and legal pleadings

• Familiarity with discovery practice and deposition procedures

• Courtroom experience preferred

• Excellent legal writing and research abilities

• Strong negotiation and advocacy skills

• Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously

• Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities

• Commitment to providing exceptional client service
