Behavior Intervention SpecialistWork on a 1:1 basis during school hours with clients who have behavior challenges, social emotional issues and academic problems. Assist with their academic, behavioral and social-emotional interactions. Clients served may include those on the Pervasive Developmental Spectrum including Autistic Disorder; Sensory Integration Dysfunction, Expressive/Receptive Speech Disorders, social deficits, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, non-specific learning disorders and behavior problems. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team collaborating with other professionals (e.g. speech pathologists, occupational therapists, psychologists, etc.). Services are provided within local school districts across Los Angeles, West Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley.Great Opportunity for parents wanting to work the same hours as when their children are in school.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupport the treatment team in the implementation of the client's goals and objectives per IEP and behavior support plan, facilitating student access to classroom routine and independence.Working knowledge of autistic spectrum disorders and child development, Applied Behavior Analysis and implementation of other behavior programs, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, behavior intervention strategies, and the use of reinforcement systems.Collect daily notes and data documenting client progress towards IEP goals and/or client behavior support plan and enter them into the appropriate tracking systems.Work with supervisor and consult with client's team to develop and implement a behavior support plan based on collected data to include: a description of current behaviors; antecedents for the behaviors; reinforcement strategies and environmental modifications.Use software to monitor timelines, service delivery and data collection. Ensure reports and billing are submitted in a timely manner.Other DutiesAttend ECF in-service training sessions and staff meetings as directedAttend department trainings scheduled by the department directorComply with ECF's Injury and Illness Prevention ProgramEnsure safe use and operation of tools and/or equipmentComply with ECF policies and procedures, including mandated reporting requirementsRegular, reliable attendancePerform other duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation/Licenses/Certifications: Bachelor's degree in psychology/related field ( may substitute experience for a degree. See below). Obtain Child Abuse certification online within 30 days of employment and renew annually. Complete HR Insperity trainings on-line within the first month of employment.Experience: With BA or BS, minimal six months working with individuals with developmental disabilities.Without a BA or BS degree, minimally two years working with individuals with developmental disabilities Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:Working knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis and/or experience with implementation of other behavioral programsAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writingAbility to work independently and as part of a team and follow instructions of supervisor and department directorBasic computer skillsAlways maintain a professional image and courteous demeanor.RequirementProvide evidence of a negative TB test.Obtain and maintain certification for CPR/First Aid and NCIWork EnvironmentWork is conducted in the field (at local schools and/or client homes).
