CNC Machine Operator - 1st Shift

Connect Staffing is hiring a CNC Machinist for a medical device and optical lens manufacturing facility in Ontario, CA. This is a temp-to-hire first-shift position paying $20/hr. In this role, you will operate Optoform lathes and mills to machine intraocular lenses (IOLs), then inspect them using microscopes and comparators for surface defects and dimensional accuracy. This is a long-term placement with a globally recognized optical and medical technology company.

Pay: $20/hr

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 4:00 AM-12:30 PM, must be available to work overtime (10 or 12 hour shift, and Saturdays) as needed

Responsibilities

• Machine hydrophobic and multifocal intraocular lenses (IOLs) using Optoform lathes and mills in 1PC or 3PC machining cells.
• Read and interpret lens drawings and overlays to guide machining and in-process quality inspections.
• Measure IOL dimensions, diopter, back focal length (BFL), and image quality to verify parts meet specifications.
• Complete work orders and production documentation accurately in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
• Monitor, control, and adjust equipment temperature; maintain vacuum lines and troubleshoot utility connections.
• Communicate equipment concerns or process issues to leads and supervisors.

Minimum Requirements

• 1+ year of machining, CNC operation, or precision manufacturing experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC lathes, mills, or similar precision machining equipment.
• Familiarity with optical, medical device, or cleanroom manufacturing environments.
• Experience using microscopes, comparators, or other optical inspection equipment.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
• Experience performing in-process quality inspections and recording production data.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings or manufacturing specifications.
