Solutions Design Engineer

Lineage is currently searching for a Solutions Design Engineer to join our growing team. This is a HYBRID role, expected 2-3 days per week onsite in Novi, MI. Ideal candidates possess in-depth experience in industrial engineering, supply chain management, finance, or logistics combined with strong technical skills, natural curiosity and the ability to thrive in a highly collaborative team environment. In this role you will lead and support the development of best-in-class operating solutions in the area of warehousing design and/or supply chain operations. Solutions will include consideration of all operational elements included but not limited to cost, service requirements, operational processes, utilization of technology/IT, equipment requirements and staffing plans.Job Description:You will partner closely with Sales, Operations, Finance and Network Optimization to support Lineage’s new business pursuits and a capital spend program of over $1B annually. As the design engineer for this critical business function, you will need to be highly effective at facilitating and leading cross-functional teams and building strong working relationships with functional and operating leaders at all levels.This is a HYBRID role, expected 2-3 days per week onsite in Novi, MI. Job Functions:Support new business pursuits by reviewing RFP documents, understanding objectives, developing questions to clarify gaps and creating initial hypothesis specific to a specific solution design that solves our customer's needs & delivers unique valueData validation, cleansing, profiling, baseline development & defining scenarios to modelCalculating labor, equipment, facility and expense requirements based on warehousing design assumptionsDevelop and utilize pricing models to determine the overall financial effectiveness of potential capital projects and dedicated customer solutionsLead internal reviews of pricing model and the construction of customer pricingSupport internal team with solution review presentations and design validation meetingsWork with operations and project team to validate that designs are implemented as planned such that the intended value and efficiency are realized by internal and external customerSupport and contribute to the development of improved engineering standards, methods and tools to ensure industry best practicesPerform work, time, and efficiency studies to ensure that labor requirements are being properly definedQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management or equivalent education and experience. Master’s Degree in related field, preferred.A minimum of five years’ experience in the Warehousing and/or Manufacturing industry (e.g., Industrial Engineering, Warehouse Operations) with a preference for cold storage experience.Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Power BI or equivalent data analysis and visualization software skills a plus.Strong analytical skills (both qualitative and quantitative), including the ability to solve practical problems and analyze processes for improvement.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information crisply and succinctly.Comfort working in a hands-on, highly engaged environment and willingness to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility along with a strong work ethic and bias for action.Ability to work independently, develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish work.Knowledge of warehouse management operations, warehouse types, material handling solutions and automation types such as: powered industrial truck (PIT) applications; racking and other storage solution designs, packaging equipment; conveyor and sortation equipment; and other automation solutions (e.g. AS/RS).Estimated travel 10-20%Company Overview:At Lineage, we have a shared purpose: We are transforming the food supply chain to eliminate waste and help feed the world.
