Materials Manager

About the Role As the Materials Manager, you will oversee procurement, inventory planning, warehouse operations, and logistics to ensure consistent and efficient materials flow that supports production and customer demand. You’ll play a key role in ERP implementation and partner closely with leadership to strengthen systems, processes, and supplier performance. Key Responsibilities Lead purchasing, inventory control, warehouse operations, and logistics to meet production schedules, service levels, and cost targets Drive materials planning, including demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and production support Oversee supplier relationships, including sourcing, negotiations, contract management, and freight agreements Lead and develop a team of buyers, a buyer assistant, a production scheduler, and a warehouse supervisor Ensure accuracy and integrity of materials data across systems, including ICCI database, Microsoft Access, and ERP platforms Lead ERP implementation, including data migration, process alignment, and user training Track and improve key performance indicators, including inventory turnover, supplier performance, and cost efficiency Collaborate with manufacturing, finance, IT, and customer service teams to align supply chain strategy with business goals Ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures Required Experience Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field required; equivalent experience may be considered 7 to 10 years of experience in materials management, purchasing, or supply chain operations within manufacturing 3 to 5 years of leadership experience managing purchasing, warehouse, or materials teams Proven experience negotiating supplier contracts and driving cost savings Hands‑on experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Epicor, NetSuite, or similar, including implementation and training Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and experience working with Access or similar systems Experience in demand planning, production scheduling, inventory management, and logistics Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement preferred What Will Make You Successful Being a hands‑on leader who balances strategy with execution Using data to identify opportunities and drive measurable improvements Building strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders Being comfortable leading change, including systems and process improvements Taking ownership of results and consistently looking for ways to improve performance This is an on‑site role in Pittsfield, Maine, within a manufacturing and warehouse setting, with regular collaboration across operations teams. Compensation Salary range: $105,000 to $125,000, depending on experience and qualifications, with strong long‑term growth potential.
