Position Description The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco is seeking applicants to fill a full-time faculty position in Ophthalmology at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. The candidate will provide clinical services in anterior segment surgery in the UCSF Department of Ophthalmology and, if appropriate, the F. I. Proctor Foundation. They will be responsible for maintaining a surgical anterior segment ophthalmology practice and for supporting clinical call at one or more UCSF clinical locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Primary clinical sites include the Wayne and Gladys Valley Center for Vision and Proctor Medical Clinic in Mission Bay. Additional sites are Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, San Francisco Veterans Affairs Hospital, UCSF Parnassus, Berkeley Outpatient Clinic, Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, and Oakland VA Clinic. Candidates may also cover other Bay Area sites including the Mission Bay center, Zuckerberg Hospital, and other San Francisco locations. Requirements Qualified candidates must hold an MD or equivalent degree and possess a CA license or be eligible for full, unrestricted licensure by the time of hire. Candidates must be board certified or board‑eligible in Ophthalmology (ABO); subspecialty fellowship training in cornea/anterior segment surgery with experience caring for adult and pediatric patients is required, and training in uveitis is desirable but not required. Applicants must demonstrate a distinguished record of excellence in clinical care and teaching; teaching competency is essential. Experience in clinical or education research is welcome but not required. Benefits and Compensation Rank and salary commensurate with experience. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See the UC salary scale summary for details. The minimum base salary range for this position is $140,600 – $369,000. The total negotiated salary will include an additional component at the time of hire and membership in the health sciences compensation plan.
