Supervisor, Grants and Contracts Specialist, Cancer Center

Job Summary The Supervisor of Grants and Contracts oversees the administration, compliance, and lifecycle management of externally sponsored grants and contracts. In this role, the supervisor partners closely with Principal Investigators (PIs), academic departments, central finance, and research administration offices to support effective stewardship of sponsored funds throughout the award lifecycle. In addition, the supervisor provides oversight and leadership within the Cancer Center’s grants administration team. Job Duties Research Administration – manages full‑cycle, complex research proposals, including grant submissions, budget preparation, and award setup. Contract Negotiation – drafts and administers research, sponsored research, and related agreements. Supervision & Mentorship – provides guidance to Grants and Contracts team members and administrative staff, aiding in their training and reviewing their work product for accuracy. Compliance & Monitoring – ensures compliance with state, federal, and private sponsor regulations; monitors grant budgets and manages all relevant reporting. Faculty Support – collaborates with researchers to identify funding opportunities and ensures timely reporting. Additional SCCC Specific Duties May manage large, multi‑PI project submissions and grant lifecycle. May provide support to Assistant Director of Department Grant Administration. Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in sponsored research – submitting and administering research grants. Preferred: Experience managing large grant portfolios. Prior Supervisory or Project Management Experience Prior supervisory or project management experience is required.
