The Executive Director for the California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs provides day-to-day leadership to all efforts of the Commission and develops and implements short and long-term strategies for the Commission's core goals. The Executive Director will strengthen?the Commission's infrastructure, governance policy, policy and procedural manual, and manages budget and other administrative duties.The Executive Director will coordinate quarterly full Commission meetings, Commission committee meetings, public hearings and other meetings for the Commission. This includes guiding, reviewing and editing all staff documents and reports produced by and for the Commission.

This position may be eligible for telework in accordance with the state's Telework Policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Department Information The California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs is charged with elevating the political, economic, and social issues of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans (APIA), in the state.

California is proud to be home to over seven million Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islanders (AANHPI) which are among the fastest-growing ethnic population in the state.

The Commission advises the Governor and the Legislature on how to best respond to views, needs, and concerns of the state's diverse and complex APIA communities. Additionally, the commission provides assistance to policymakers, state agencies, departments, and commissions to develop appropriate responses and programs that meet the needs of APIA communities, including focus on cultural language sensitivity, and hate incident and hate crime prevention measures.
