External Communications, Chase Auto Vice President

Chase Auto is seeking a Vice President of External Communications to shape the external narrative for one of the nation’s leading auto finance businesses. This role supports B2B communications for the Commercial Solutions business unit, with a particular emphasis on advancing the reputation and visibility of Commercial Solutions and will also provide ad hoc communications support to Auto’s other business units, including Private Label Captive Finance and Retail and Consumer. As an External Communications, Chase Auto Vice President within Consumer and Community Banking you will be a seasoned public relations professional with deep experience operating in complex, high-visibility environments. You will bring a sophisticated understanding of the media landscape and demonstrates equal fluency engaging top-tier business, financial, and trade publications, in addition to securing executive speaking opportunities at B2B conferences in auto and other industries. Success in this role requires exceptional judgment, executive presence, and the ability to anticipate risk while identifying opportunities to elevate the business. Job responsibilitiesLead external communications strategy for Commercial Solutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities and long-term growth objectives.Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives, providing strategic counsel on positioning, media engagement, executive visibility, and reputational considerations.Develop and execute proactive, insight-driven narratives that highlight innovation, client partnerships, product capabilities, and industry leadership across both consumer and commercial segments.Partner closely with executives to support media interviews, speaking engagements, major announcements, and thought leadership opportunities.Own media strategy and cultivate strong relationships across national, financial, automotive, consumer, and trade press.Anticipate and manage reputational risk and lead communications planning for sensitive or high-impact situations in coordination with Legal, Compliance, and Corporate Communications.Translate complex financial and automotive topics into clear, credible, and compelling messaging for external stakeholders.Collaborate across Consumer and Community Banking and Corporate Communications to ensure consistency with firmwide messaging and strategic priorities.Monitor industry trends, competitive dynamics, and the evolving media landscape to inform strategy and identify opportunities to differentiate the business.Oversee external agency partners and implement measurement frameworks to evaluate the effectiveness of communications programs as needed. Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:7+ years of relevant, progressively responsible experience in external communications, corporate communications, or public relations; Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications Proven success advising senior executives and developing B2B communications strategies that lead measurable business outcomes.Significant experience engaging both consumer-facing media and B2B or trade publications, with the ability to tailor messaging to distinct audiences.Strong executive presence with the ability to influence stakeholders and operate with credibility at senior levels of the organization.Exceptional writing, editing, and messaging skills with disciplined attention to detail.Demonstrated ability to anticipate and manage reputational risk within a regulated industry.Experience navigating complex, matrixed organizations with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.Strong business acumen and strategic orientation, with the ability to connect communications strategies to broader enterprise goals.Excellent writing, editing and presentation skills Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple assignments, stringent deadlines and changing priorities Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:Communications experience within commercial banking Chase is a leading financial services firm, helping nearly half of America’s households and small businesses achieve their financial goals through a broad range of financial products.
