Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a meaningful contract opportunity as an Elementary Self-Contained Special Education Teacher serving students in 4th and 5th grades. This role is conveniently located near Elgin and Vernon Hills, IL, in a setting dedicated to comprehensive special education support. You’ll have the chance to positively impact a small classroom of 7-8 students, fostering both academic and social growth within a highly collaborative environment.
Your schedule follows a structured week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:05 am to 3:35 pm, and Wednesdays until 3:50 pm, with a 30-minute daily lunch break. The assignment runs from August 17, 2026, through May 28, 2027, with the opportunity to attend new teacher orientation August 5-11 if you are onboarded in time. Expect to work 35 hours per week in a school that features a supportive team—all self-contained elementary classrooms are housed in one building, offering you expert resources and collaboration.
What we’re looking for:
- LBSI Special Education certification (required)
- Experience leading a self-contained classroom, ideally at the upper elementary level
- Familiarity with Unique Learning System or STAR curriculum is highly preferred
- Strong classroom management and differentiation skills
- Commitment to building positive student relationships and supporting diverse needs
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, specialists, and families
