Administrative Coordinator

The Judicial Council of California is accepting applications for the position of Administrative Coordinator with the Center for Families, Children & the Courts. The Administrative Coordinator position is responsible for lead administrative duties for three areas in the Court Assistance, Resources, and Education (CARE) unit: (1) advisory committee support, (2) juvenile court grant support, and (3) educational event planning. First, the administrative coordinator provides administrative coordination of closed and open meetings of the Judicial Council’s Family and Juvenile Law Advisory Committee, the Judicial Council’s Probate and Mental Health Advisory Committee, and committee working groups as needed. The position is responsible for moderate administrative support of Rules and Forms Projects (Rules) to staff attorneys creating and revising Judicial Council reports in the areas of juvenile dependency and delinquency law. Rules support includes a high level of forms layout, editing and revision in various software packages. In addition to staff attorneys, the administrative coordinator is responsible for working with dedicated analysts on form creation and revision. Second, this position provides administrative coordination to juvenile related grant programs at the Judicial Council, including budget tracking, monitoring, and procurement for specialized programs; in-person or remote large-scale conferences; Federal grant programs such as title IV-E and the Court Improvement Program; and the $4 million permanency grant program. The position is also responsible for logistical support for a large, multidisciplinary training event: the Biannual Statewide Beyond the Bench conference that hosts over 1,000 attendees. This position interacts with and provides customer service to a variety of audiences including judges, court staff, attorneys, social workers and other family/youth advocates. This position also provides administrative support to the CARE unit as needed. The Judicial Council strives for work-life balance, including substantial vacation and holiday time. The San Francisco office is only a 7-minute walk from the downtown Civic Center BART station. In Sacramento, the office is located minutes from downtown, just north of Discovery Park. We offer hybrid work arrangements for many positions. The successful candidate will be expected to work in person at the Judicial Council’s San Francisco or Sacramento office at least two days per week, based on their office leader’s direction, and reside in the areas surrounding these locations. To be eligible for Judicial Council employment and participation in the Judicial Council’s Hybrid Work Program, a prospective or current employee’s primary residence/remote work location must be in the State of California and within a 150-mile driving radius of their assigned reporting location. Associate’s degree, preferably in area(s) of assignment, and one (1) year of administrative support experience, including some experience in area(s) of assignment (such as accounting, writing/editing, database/spreadsheets, direct support to upper management, etc.). Additional directly related experience and/or education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
