Property Accountant

Property Accountant Location: New York, NY Salary: $110,000-130,000 base Thriving Real Estate Investment Firm is looking for an experienced Property Accountant to manage the financials for a diverse portfolio of 12-15 residential buildings with multiple ownership entities. What You'll Do ? Cash & Banking Monitor and manage cash flow across properties to ensure sufficient operating funds Reconcile bank accounts monthly Coordinate wire transfers and mortgage payments Approve vendor payments in coordination with the Accounts Payable team Work closely with Accounts Receivable to post and review non-tenant receipts ? Reporting & Month-End Close Handle all aspects of the month-end close process, including journal entries and accruals Prepare monthly financial statements and ownership reporting packages Deliver variance analyses and special reports as requested by owners or lenders Ensure accuracy and compliance with accrual-based accounting standards ? Budgeting & Forecasting Assist with the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets Work with property managers and owners to align budgets with operational goals ? Audit & Support Provide financial documentation and support during audits Reconcile and maintain security deposit accounts Respond to ownership and internal requests in a timely, professional manner What We're Looking For Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required) Experience: 3-5 years of experience in property accounting, preferably residential real estate Skills: Strong understanding of accrual accounting Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, etc.) Familiarity with Yardi (7s or similar systems) Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills Clear and professional communication-both written and verbal Ability to manage deadlines and work independently Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
