Workforce Excellence Specialist, National Tax Operations

Job Overview The Workforce Excellence Specialist, National Tax Operations (NTO) leads the schedule and talent deployment process while aligning with the vision, mission, and strategy of the consolidated tax practice. The role partners with regional and national leadership to drive process improvements, achieve significant impact, and manage resource allocation in a professional services environment. Responsibilities Optimize utilization across the assigned practitioner population by making staffing decisions in support of the deployment strategy. Lead all activities related to resource planning and allocation, ensuring staff are assigned to projects timely based on skills, experience, availability, and budget. Drive effective staffing strategies that support positive customer experience, operational efficiency, and process excellence. Identify opportunities to optimize resourcing, implement regional process changes, and champion initiatives focused on workload balancing, scheduling, and professional development. Support the execution of the operational strategy, objectives, KPIs, and roadmap for Tax. Serve as a trusted advisor to tax leaders, identifying issues, executing action plans, and recommending targeted hiring. Assist project managers with resource balancing tasks such as reallocating resources and adjusting goals to address over‑utilization or overtime. Review staffing data to develop insights on trends, forecasts, and improvement opportunities. Leverage automation and reporting platforms to provide visualizations that promote transparency in skills and scheduling. Engage counterparts to encourage resource sharing across markets and geographies. Monitor utilization, pipeline, solution‑specific and backlog reports to provide analysis on key metrics. Other duties as required. Education Associate’s degree required; or High School Diploma/GED with four or more years of experience in Business Administration, Operations Management, or Accounting. Experience Experience drafting and creating effective internal and external written communication. Resource management experience in a professional services firm (e.g., public accounting, law firm). Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining tax processes. Experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting metrics. License and Certifications Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred. Software Proficiency High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Proficiency with PowerBI. Proficiency with Smartsheet. Proficiency with PeopleSoft and OneStream or similar corporate management software.
