We provide all of our Pharmacy Technicians with a comprehensive, hands-on training to ensure you feel confident in performing your day-to-day responsibilities. Once training is complete, you will be able to prepare sterile IV products, restock automated dispensing cabinets, and dispense solid oral dosage forms for patients visiting the various infusion sites.General Pharmacy Technician duties may include:Perform activities relating to or supporting the preparation, compounding, processing, and delivery of medications and pharmaceutical supplies under the supervision of a pharmacist, supervisor or residentAssist in the retrieving/filing medication orders from electronic systemsAssist in general pharmacy cleaning/maintenance/stockingPrepare investigational drugs per research protocolsTriage telephone inquiriesAssist with training of staffAbility to perform a wide range of physical activity: lifting, pulling, bending, manual dexterity movements. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, prioritize with accuracy and dependability: Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English.Pharmacy Technician Associate:Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Current licensure that meets the State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician licensing requirements. The new regulations allow for a one-time temporary license for up to 1 year, during which time a Technician must successfully complete requirements to become certified and meet all other State of Michigan requirements for a Full Pharmacy Technician License. UMHS Pharmacy Department provides coaching and additional information to support Technicians to become certified and licensed.Newly hired pharmacy technicians must obtain a valid Michigan Pharmacy Technician License on or before their hire date. This can include a Full Michigan Pharmacy Technician License or a Temporary Michigan Pharmacy Technician License. If a technician obtains a Temporary Michigan Pharmacy Technician License on or before their date of hire, they must obtain a Full Michigan Pharmacy Technician License within 1 year of hire date or before the Temporary Michigan Pharmacy Technician License expires, whichever is sooner, in order to maintain employment. In addition, All pharmacy technicians must obtain PTCB certification within 6 months of hire date or in time to obtain a Full Michigan Pharmacy Technician License, whichever is sooner, and they must maintain their PTCB certification throughout the duration of employment at UMHS as a Pharmacy Technician.Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.This is a full-time position. Hours depend on the infusion center operational hours. Shifts start as early as 6am and end as late as 8pm. Weekends also must be worked on a rotational basis. Rotation among work locations may occur. The locations for which employee rotate through include: Brighton Center for Specialty Care, Children's and Women's Infusion Center, University Hospital, East Ann Arbor Health Center, Northville Health Center, Taubman Center, Rogel Cancer Center, West Ann Arbor Health Center.Upon applying for this position, you will be sent an invitation within two business days to complete an online pre-employment assessment.
