Position Overview Temporary position (9 months or less). Pay $19.00-$20.00 per hour. Employment starts 05/15/2026 through 10/31/2026. This posting is for both Lead and Staff Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator. Applicants should specify whether applying for Lead or Staff level in supplemental questions. Responsibilities Lead Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) Inspector: Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols at Williams Fork Reservoir near Kremmling, Colorado in Grand County. Site lead will provide on‑the‑job training to inspection staff, create schedules, ensure shifts are covered during operational hours, collect and verify accurate time‑keeping records for payroll purposes, work with the area work lead to resolve challenges with staff and customers, and recommend hiring/firing decisions. Additional responsibilities include ensuring inspection station staff follow standardized protocols by performing quality control assessments on a monthly basis, ensuring accurate and complete data entry, maintaining inventory of all required supplies, performing basic maintenance & troubleshooting on power washer/decontamination units, and providing public outreach on aquatic invasive species. Early morning, evening, and weekend work is required. Staff Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) Inspector: Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities independently or in pairs to inspect boats launching and leaving the reservoir, focusing on invasive species such as zebra or quagga mussels. Provide public outreach on the aquatic invasive species topic by distributing printed material to visitors. Position reports directly to the boat ramp. Boat inspection training will be provided. Early morning, evening, and weekend work required. Basic Requirements Good driving record and ability to work weekends, early morning and late evenings. Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines and/or heavy equipment preferred. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent customer service experience working with the public desired. Reliable and timely. Ability to self‑motivate and work independently. Pursuant to the DNR‑120 Fleet and Driving Standards Administrative Directive, any worker who will be expected to drive a State‑owned vehicle is responsible for maintaining a safe driving record and a valid driver license prior to driving any State‑owned vehicle.
