Head of Sales

Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid)

Salary: $170,000-$220,000 Base + $280,000-$380,000 OTE + Equity

About the Role

A fast-growing AI infrastructure startup is looking to hire a Head of Sales to build and scale its revenue function as the business enters its next phase of growth.

The company is developing AI-powered workflow automation software for the insurance industry, helping enterprise customers streamline document-heavy processes, extract critical information, and improve operational efficiency. Having already achieved strong early ARR traction, the business is now scaling rapidly with backing from experienced operators and investors.

This is a true player-coach opportunity for someone who enjoys both personally closing strategic enterprise deals and building the foundations of a scalable GTM organisation. You'll work directly with the founding team to define sales strategy, establish repeatable processes, and help shape the future direction of the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and exceed a personal sales quota while managing the day-to-day performance of the sales organisation
  • Lead and develop Account Executives, SDRs, and external SDR partners
  • Build and refine the GTM playbook, ICP definitions, sales processes, and pipeline management frameworks
  • Run weekly pipeline reviews and provide hands-on deal coaching across the team
  • Close strategic mid-market and enterprise opportunities while acting as executive sponsor for key accounts
  • Partner closely with business operations on CRM management, forecasting, reporting, and revenue analytics
  • Help shape the broader commercial strategy alongside the founders in a fast-moving startup environment
What We're Looking For
  • 8-14 years of B2B SaaS sales experience within quota-carrying closing roles
  • Currently or very recently quota-carrying; candidates with solely management experience are unlikely to be a fit
  • Experience within early-stage startups (Seed-Series C), including building sales processes from scratch
  • Strong background selling complex, integration-heavy SaaS products or enterprise software solutions
  • Proven experience closing enterprise-level deals and managing multiple complex sales cycles simultaneously
  • Player-coach mentality with strong leadership, operational, and coaching capabilities
  • Comfortable operating in high-growth, ambiguous environments with significant ownership
  • Experience across both startup and structured enterprise sales environments is highly desirable
