Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
• Valid Alabama Teacher’s Certificate
• Compliance with Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) federal and Alabama state standards, or willingness to fulfill these requirements within established timelines
• All credentials and endorsements necessary for Deaf/Hard of Hearing education in Alabama

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver tailored, evidence-based instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing based on individualized education plans
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to promote inclusive practices and the integration of specialized strategies
• Assess student progress, adjust instructional strategies, and document results to continuously foster student growth
• Advocate for student needs, ensuring all accommodations and modifications are implemented effectively
• Participate in IEP meetings and student support teams while contributing expertise to multidisciplinary planning
