Project Executive

Job Summary The Project Executive is responsible for the overall day-to-day leadership, operational performance, safety culture, financial management, and successful execution of assigned project. This role serves as the primary point of contact for the client and is accountable for integrating project management, field operations, cost accounting, procurement, and preconstruction efforts into a cohesive and high-performing project team. The Project Executive establishes and maintains operational excellence by leading project staff, driving schedule and budget performance, supporting a strong safety culture, and ensuring quality standards are consistently achieved. The role requires strategic thinking, proactive problem solving, strong communication skills, and the ability to mentor teams while maintaining positive relationships with owners, consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders. Main Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development Lead and manage project team by establishing clear roles, responsibilities, expectations, and accountability. Conduct annual and mid-year performance reviews and support employee development plans. Foster a collaborative, respectful, and high-performing project culture aligned with company values. Promote communication and coordination between field and office staff. Provide guidance, mentorship, and operational support to project teams throughout all phases of construction. Manage project performance audits and ensure corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives are implemented. Support and promote company training initiatives and ongoing professional development. Safety Leadership Serve as the project Safety Champion and lead by example in maintaining a strong safety culture. Ensure all project safety orientations, site safety plans, emergency procedures, and security plans are properly implemented. Conduct regular safety inspections and monitor project safety metrics, trends, and corrective actions. Ensure incidents are reported promptly and managed in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements. Support project teams through ongoing safety training, walkthroughs, and lessons learned discussions. Operational Excellence & Project Execution Oversee all aspects of project execution including schedule, budget, quality control, communication, and risk management. Develop, manage, and audit key project management tools including schedules, budget reports, WIP reports, GC monitors, logs, and workflows. Ensure that the project schedule is developed into a detailed construction schedule that is updated monthly and used as project tool. Establish and manage project workflows for RFIs, submittals, change orders, BIM coordination, document control, and reporting. Review and understand all contract documents, plans, specifications, and subcontractor agreements. Ensure internal and external reporting is accurate, complete, and delivered on time. Support project teams by identifying risks early and developing recovery or mitigation strategies. Client & Stakeholder Relationship Management Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for project owners and client representatives. Maintain strong relationships with owners, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders. Ensure timely and professional communication with both internal and external clients. Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities through existing and new relationships. Promote a collaborative environment that encourages open communication and problem resolution. Preconstruction & Procurement Leadership Participate in preconstruction activities including GMP development, bid package reviews, logistics planning, and schedule development. Lead constructability reviews of the project and provide strategies to mitigate risks Support procurement activities by creating some and reviewing all bid packages, leveling sheets, contract exhibits, and subcontractor scopes. Ensure proper bid coverage and support the identification of qualified trade partners. Financial & Cost Management Coordinate with cost accounting teams to ensure requisitions, budget reports, and financial tracking tools are accurate and timely. Monitor project financial performance including general conditions, subcontractor billing, WIP reporting, and cash flow. Manage change order processes including review, negotiation, documentation, and client communication. Minimize project risk by ensuring work is properly authorized and supported by approved documentation. Review project cost projections and develop recovery plans when necessary. Mentor project teams on financial management best practices and risk mitigation strategies. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or related field. At least 15 years’ experience/knowledge of construction, design, finance and management required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in both at-risk and cost-plus work contract types Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction including safety, risk mitigation & control methods, operational means & methods and technology.
