Sr Scientist, Drug Metabolism

Gilead Sciences seeks a senior scientist in drug metabolism to provide pharmacokinetic and PK/PD modeling expertise across discovery and development programs. The role involves designing mechanistic models, guiding nonclinical study strategies, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to inform regulatory submissions and business decisions. Requires a Ph.D., 5+ years of industry experience in quantitative modeling, and proficiency with industry-standard software platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provide PK and PK/PD modeling guidance for project teams across discovery and development phases
• Design, implement, and validate complex models to address translational questions and predict first-in-human exposures
• Drive quantitative DMPK strategy through collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders
• Develop and refine modeling workflows for nonclinical studies using simulation-based optimization approaches
• Support regulatory submissions and participate in business development and licensing evaluations

Requirements

• Ph.D. in pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism, pharmaceutics, or related life science field
• 5+ years post-graduate industry experience in quantitative modeling of PK/PD
• Strong foundation in pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic principles with mathematical modeling ability
• Proficiency with modeling software: Phoenix/WinNonlin, MATLAB/SimBiology, GastroPlus, R, or equivalent
• Demonstrated expertise designing and interpreting complex mechanistic PK/PD and multi-compartmental models
• Hands-on experience applying AI in model-building and workflow automation
• Track record of external visibility through publications, presentations, or professional involvement

Compensation: $169,320-$219,120 base; eligible for discretionary annual bonus and stock-based long-term incentives
